Is it a universal phenomenon or just typical of the kiasu attitude Singaporeans?

I make it a point to signal my intention before changing lane. And ample time to let the car behind react usually.

While most of the time, many drivers - private cars and taxis - are gracious enough to let me into the lane, there are others who would play stupid tricks.

And these are the people that I love to piss further!

I have taxis who tried to match my speed thus blocking me from changing lanes, taxis and private cars revving high just so they can cut me off from switching lanes.

To these fuckers, hope you get the same treatment EVERY TIME you try to change lanes.

And without trying to sound to sweeping and stereotypical, these inferior complex-ridden fools are usually - in descending frequency - taxis, korean cars, cheaper jap makes/models ...

Just met a fucking taxi who tried yto cut me off this afternoon. Even as I edged in, his slow reacting engine surge just a little forward and then knowing that he shouldn't have done that, he blasted his horn. Being ME, I unwind my window and shouted out to him "I signalled long enough already, edged in already and you still want to speed up!" (finger greetings concurrently) Of course, this imbecile gave me a disapproving look that reads "You reckless civic ah beng!"

And the ironic part is that, if this dumb ass is to "kiss me" when I am in the lane fully, I may even claim against him.

it's not the car... it's the driver...

i have cars like Lexus, Camry, bmw, volvo, Mercedes, especially mercedes. who like to 'close up' the gap to stop me from filtering...

sometimes i see them move, and just EDGE RIGHT OVER with signal light on of course, and downshift, and let go the clutch... i.e. NO brake lights

Smile

horn horn lor... and re return the brake taps... "two shakes and a ducktail"

tap- tap tap tap - tap..... tap tap... Smile

and this usually works... they know .. hahaha better than the middle finger...

Laughing

the only car i dun try to out-filter would be the Chrysler T350 or something like that? fugging MONSTER engine in there... dun play...

yes I have camrys trying hard to "close gap" on me too, even exquisite and exotics but the most frequent are really those super cheapo people who has a big portion of their disposable income spent on their ride and thus feel that they are putting a lot of stake on the road everytime they drive and that they took really good care of their ride so should you about his ride. And if you dun drive carefully, you endanger his life and his ride's and that is punishable by death. the highest frequency are still taxis, K makes and then cheap J makes followed by cheap J price brackets makes.

Remember I posted about a CK driver that came out of his ride after knocking onto a wayward diahatsu? He blowed his top, red faced, screamed, behaqved so unbeoming and maybe just cos the other party on the line couldn't understand him. What went oin in his mind? Why is he so uncool about the incident? Would someone else behave in a more refined way?

Is his car more precious to him than a rich ASK's ferrari to the ASK?

Why should we "sympathise" or "emphathise" his behaviour cos it's his "only car" or "first car he calls his very own" If his dollar is blood & sweat soaked, isn't the ASK's dad's money also made from blood & sweat? Why do we always feel that we deserve others' undertstanding more than we should understand others?

Why should we empathise someone when he is "rushing for time"? or when he has "so,,mething serious / urgent to attend to" ?

Me included, we should be considerate and sometimes spare a thoiugh for others be it when we are busy or otherwise.

when judgement fails, the next best alternative is usually to base decision on pre-set rules.

bro... when i drive fast i am in a hurry... may it's urgent maybe it's not.. but still need to give way to other road users ma...

drive fast and in a hurry and urgent business... only you the speeding road user in a hurry la?

basic road courtesy prevails whether you are in a hurry or not. unless you are driving a military HummVee in war time... then you can MOW everyone else down becos the military is not a democracy...

is it becos we all play soldier before we forget how to be civil?

in my greatest hurry, ferrying my friend who had an accident and broke his face bone to the hospital, me driving with pedal to the metal, still give way when it's their right of way, and when they signal to move into my lane...

i never bother to horn them... i just find a way around them. takes less effort i think...

in any case... it's the basic attitude... we are road users.. we do not own the road.

think about it...

???

errr bro, dun quite understand what is your stand leh although I understand the meaninig of your post.

to add on

Why should we empathise someone when he is "rushing for time"? or when he has "so,,mething serious / urgent to attend to" ?

Me included, we should be considerate and sometimes spare a thoiugh for others be it when we are busy or otherwise.

sorry. what I meant (maybe not very clear here) is that to those who alwayts seem to think that they are in a rush, they should also be considerate to think tjhat just as they are rushing, there may be another soul out there who is in greater urgency. so these folks should be more considerate. if they wanna avoid rushing, manage their time better. as for genuine life and death case like your incident with your friend, now that is real emergency.
