14th nov a day i will remember for a long time ....
Morning, heavy rain and in the peak hour, this particular road hogger is taking his bloody own sweet time going at 40km/hr on the first lane, jaming everyone up! Surely the rain is not that heavy until one need to slow down until below normal street speed limit.... CMI person
Got a call at 9.45am, informing me that my presence is required in the meeting at 10am ... bloody hell, 15 mins left, i'm no where near the location and unprepared .... no choice got to rush in the rain ....
At the usual bends, usually i pass it at 100km/hr in the dry with no problem and have some safety allowance . Since i'm in the rush, went in at usual speed, but decided to go at a lower gear for better control since raining. True enough, upon enterance, immediately felt rear left tyre losing traction. Rear swinging towards left, counter-steer to correct position. Too much, now car going towards right and moving towards the wall. Damn, i decided, if its going end-up crashing, it got to be at the left side, not on my side (i'm alone). Turn more to the right to swing the car, tapping on brake to slow front going into impact.
It is true, when one is in danger, somethings come in mind, flashing through in ultra fast speed. Split seconds, in reality. But it seems so long ... Returning from images to reality and facing the problem, I asked myself should i let go everything, adopting the theroy learnt and proven in track? Allow the car and nature force to take control? If i do that, i know for sure, i'm going to crash into the wall. Do i want to accept damages? NO! I wanted no damages and escaping unharmed in this situation as the first priority. Leaving crashing the car as the failure option.
I think by now, car already swung facing on-coming traffic. I can see the approaching vehicles all slowly down to a halt, watching my vehicle all the while. Last attempt to stop the car, i step on the brake fully. Car stopped! I've swung about 100 degree+. No impact, big relief.
I've so many thanks to say.....so so many.... on a two lane street covered with wall, spung out at 100km/hr and escaped without any harm and damage, i am not skillful for sure .... just plain lucky, extremely lucky. I have to say thank you to the one looking after me on top that day. Thank you for keeping me alive and without harm.
What a day, only in the morning ....
