| Have been using 0w-20 oil for about a month. Personally, I think it's pretty good. I feel that the engine is more responsive. Moreover, my mileage has increased to 12+km/l, previously it was 11+km/l. Anyone using thin engine oil too? | |

| interesting... you got your hands on the US 0W20 oil?
have you tried redline 5W20? me yet to try it but heard it's good...
although many many have argued that it's too thin and wont' protect your engine in the long run.
personally I tried RP 5W20 for 15,000 km... noisy after 7,000 km but still ok. not gonna do it again tho... now on 10-30 M1
later will switch to Motul... and then REdline.

later will switch to Motul... and then REdline. I got it from Terence (Mxtrading). I realise that Giant is also selling US Mobil oil. But they don't have 0w-20 though. They are selling the 0w-40 and 10w-30. The 0w-40 is pretty good, I was using it before the 0w-20. I was intending to try the Redline, but it happens that the Mobil came in so I wanted to give it a try first since I am already on Mobil. In addition, Mobil is more $$ for money. There is always a debate about thin and thick oil. But there are more and more thin oil believer. In Singapore's context, most of us don't keep the car for more than 10 years. 10 years is that long for the engine, I believe most oil will keep the engine alive irregardless of the quality of the engine oil. Of course, the oil needs to be change regularly. In that context, I would use oil which I prefer and not care too much about long term protection.
