| I was DIYing my car at public car park today.... when a greenish van approached me calling me "brother".... i tot someone from SHC initially, but later he asked me whether I am interested in home audio systems... He mentioned "Brother, we are selling home audio systems, but actually we are not 'selling'. (WTF is he talking abt?) So bro, you interested to have a look??" I immediately rejected him, but he continue to pester me..... after several rejections, they finally gave up and drove off..... bloody hell, can't they understand the meaning of NO..... Anway, I have encountered this method of hard selling in UK ten years ago.... now, it has spread to Singapore..... A school mate of mine bought an pair of Audio speakers from them for 250 pounds and later realised from Newpapers abt this scam, and the speakers were only worth 50 pounds.... Anyway, just be beware........ | |

| i encountered this kinda of van before. Was at a junction when they horn at me, and shouted over, as my window is down. " Bro, wanna look at cheap but new Home system." Just as i was going to gas up right ahead, we stop there and took a look. Somehow..the story seems fishy. Saying they had Purchase order dunno like 5 sets, but end up order wrongly and took 10 sets, so need to sell of the rest before going back to office. Hmmm...with so call name card and they were in Company polo t-shirt.. However, it seems like a rather super well setup plan. They were very persistant until i really push them off and step on . Beware guys...not really into home system brand, so the brand look rather impressive though. but still...fishy story always sure have loophole. | |

| Met a similar van earlier this year when I stopped at a traffic light in the Chinatown area. Used the same pressure tactic of wanting to unload excess stocks quickly before they had to return to the office. Hoping that we would fall prey due to our eagerness to get a good deal.
I am sad to see that this "sales strategy" is still being used. The fact that it is still being used means that they had successfully unloaded some of the "excess stocks" on the unsuspecting public. | |
