| It varies... It will also depend on whether your drive journey is long or short. If the drive journey is long, the battery has longer life span as it will get fully charged more often. Mine just got changed.. About 2 years old, 51k mileage. | |

so gotta be carful ....... 1. If it ain't spolit/damaged, don't change it. Battery has lifespan, it is recommendated to change battery every 2 years interval. However, different batteries have different lifespan due to usage (charging and recharging). Dry-cell batteries and wet-cell batteries also have different life-span and shelf-life. 2. The main function of the battery is to provide electrical power to crank-start your car. So long it can help you start the car, imo, you don't have to change the battery. If you frenquently, stop the engine, pump up your ICE and switch on your air-con. Perhaps, you would like to get a gauage to monitor your battery voltage. 3. Having said that, one of my friend had used his battery for 5 years before the battery died on him . Can't jump start his car and have to use booster to jump start car as the battery can't re-charged anymore. 4. In conclusion, you can live temporary will no air-con switch on , you can off your powerful ICE , but you must be able to start your car! I can't recall what is the minimum voltage required to crank-start . So please monitor your battery voltage if you intend to use your car battery to the max. (Prevention is better than cure) 5. Thank you, my 2cents.

Volt meter tells you voltage which is a good indicator of the drain. However, you can't really measure Amps left. Just listen to your car's starter when you crank it. If it sounds like it's slowing down, better either get jumper cables ready (for when it really dies), or change battery (to be on the safe side). However, your audio system will not be reset unless/until you completely disconnect the battery terminals. This is because the car needs roughly 350 - 450 ccA (cold cranking Amps) just to get the engine started but the battery should still store some amps for your electrical system (unless you leave it flat until cannot flat liao).

| bro you can install a volt meter in your car. it will show you the charging system's power, as well as, when you off your engine, and before you start your car, how much is in the battery. you will then know when your battery is 'slowing down' and dying... batteries dun suddenly die one... they take time, up to a month to die if the battery itself is dying... if you forget to off your headlights the whole night... well... that's different... one night only your battery likely to be half dead at least if not flat dead... or a short circuit... which your volt meter will already tell you once you 'on' the key, but not yet crank start your engine... now you know why people put volt meters in their car... haha | |
