| Price of OEM oil filter is around $7 while the genuine honda oil filter can cost as much as $12. Does the price differences compensated the differences in quality as well as performance??? | |

Does the price differences compensated the differences in quality as well as performance??? side track abit... KM does use oem oil filter (black color) when the real stuff is out of stock... personal esperience... very pissed off as they no tell me till i discover it myself... from then on no more KM... Never see the black colour OEM oil filter used by KM as i ususally bring my own stuff for them to use. Was at thieng seng and saw two different type of oil filter. Green colour OEM oil filter (HAMPS) Blue colour Honda genuine oil filter (Made in USA)

| There is a Green one with full Honda logo and instructions... made in Thailand
there is a Blue one with full Honda logo and instructions - made in japan.
now there's a green Hemp and a blue Made in USA Honda filter...
to me I go for the blue Made in Japan one sold at Tanly. price - $7+ (GST really can screw a nice round figure)
KM sells the green one from Thailand for $12 + GST.
Even heard their Tech comment that 'the blue one not original' and if you bring your own, no guarantee...
I think that's the key word at KM.
If the filter leaks and fitted at KM, KM will replace at no charge, including re-top up engine oil lost, provided all parts from KM. (Hence the premium pricing)
If you bring your own, fitted yet leak, KM will not be doing anything for free ... nor replace any parts foc.
so your premium for parts paid at KM is actually an insurance policy... for your car...
but i yet to *(touch wood)* have a leaking oil filter or any other faulty Original Honda spare parts from the stockists...
you decide what you want...

| Thanks for the reply. Well, funny thing is that tanly is selling made in japan honda genuine oil filter at 7++ while theng seng is selling OEM oil filter at 7. With a few cents differences, i guess more will be willing to buy genuine stuf compared to OEM. Anyway, have being using the green colour hamp OEM oil filter for 2 servicing and has been well so far. Leakage on oil filter can be due to many reasons may not be the oil filter itself | |
